Checking the price of replacement cartridges BEFORE buying a printer is good advice. I bought my first printer without doing this and I was shocked when I went to buy cartridges.
When I decided to get a multi-function machine (printer, copier, fax,scanner) I checked the prices of cartridges and I bought a Brother. The problems with this is that you can’t use it for anything if just one cartridge is empty (it’s color so it has 4 cartridges). Also, it does a self-cleaning every few days so even if you don’t use it, one of the cartridges (usually magenta for some reason) will run out after a couple of weeks! Now I just leave it unplugged until I need it. When I buy another one, this is another thing I will watch out for.
